National Telework Week 2013
Following last year’s inaugural National Telework Week, the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has announced this year’s event will take place from 18 to 22 November 2013.
The theme for National Telework Week 2013 will focus on the development of the skills and capability for organisations to successfully implement telework as part of their flexible workplace practices.
The idea for this year’s event comes from the school of thought that the principal barrier to Australia matching international trends in telework uptake is the lack of confidence and skills among managers in managing a workforce that includes employees working remotely using digital technologies.
To support engagement on this theme, the Department is developing a The Telework Kit – a guide for leaders, managers and employees to successfully implement telework in their organisations. This guide includes a Telework Implementation Toolkit that covers the main issues that need to be addressed.
The Department is also creating a Training Program for three workshops, based on the Telework Kit, that will be published on www.telework.gov.au and be used by Department funded projects across Australia for their clients. The Telework Kit and Training Program will include links to ‘Talking Heads’ You Tube video clips, including FAQ videos on key questions raised by telework.
