Local woman wins “Woman who is Changing the World” global award

| April 21, 2023

Jacine Greenwood, Founder and CEO of Australia’s award-winning beauty brand Roccoco Botanicals has won the inaugural Women Changing the World Awards announced today in London. Jacine beat global contenders to win the Women in Business category. The awards recognize women who are leading the way in making the world a better place and aims to inspire other women to answer the call to take action.

The Women Changing the World Award was presented to Jacine Greenwood by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favourite guest, Dr. Tererai Trent, and attended by dignitaries including Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. The award celebrates and recognizes women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation.

“I am thrilled to be the recipient of this inaugural award. My whole life’s work is about helping women to feel better in their skins and live fulfilled lives so to be acknowledged at this global level is truly humbling,” said Jacine from London.

“My daily creed is: Just Go For it! I have learned to track my thoughts and eliminate all the stories and mindsets that are holding me back. This award I hope will inspire other Australian women with big ideas and dreams to do everything to reach their goals and be their version of success.”

Jacine Greenwood is an international award-winning Cosmetic Chemist and best-selling author. She has grown her brand Roccoco Botanicals from her kitchen table to a multi-million-dollar business in 3 countries, with another two countries on schedule in 2023. Jacine achieved all this as a single mother whilst undergoing 5 spinal surgeries with fusion.

In 2021, Jacine was named in the Australian Financial Review Fast 100 and the Financial Times High Growth Companies of 2022/23, an achievement she took out without spending any money on traditional advertising or social media. Driven by innovation and a love of learning she has dedicated her life to researching skin conditions, so she can give hope to her customers.

The Queenslander, whose company is headquartered in Yatala, struggled as a teenager and into adulthood with acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema and acne scarring. Jacine experienced first-hand how skin challenges can impact self-esteem. She created products with women like her in mind, turning her own pain into a successful business, propelled by a desire to make a difference in the lives of skin disorder sufferers.

Jacine’s big picture is to provide real and tangible solutions for people who have skin conditions that pose a risk to life. Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world. Over 9500 people are diagnosed daily with skin cancer and there are no solutions other than cutting them out or medical creams such as Fluorouracil and imiquimod, which damage the skin and cause intense pain and ulceration of the skin. Roccoco Botanicals is currently trialling a product that is removing actinic keratosis without causing pain or ulcerations.

“These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all. The rising of women is the awakening of everybody,” said Dr. Tererai Trent who presented Jacine with her award

It’s the second international award Jacine Greenwood and Roccoco Botanicals have won in the last 7 months. She achieved an Australian first In New York last September winning an Allé Awards which honours world-wide ingenuity and innovation is cosmetic formulation. Roccoco Botanicals won for its Ruby Crystal Cleanser which is a 7 in 1 cleanser that transforms the skin.

Jacine is currently focussed on trialling her new product to remove actinic keratosis without causing pain and ulceration of the skin on larger groups of people to check the validity of her initial studies. She has also been asked to produce a remedy for warts as this is seen commonly in medical practice and difficult to treat in children.

Jacine is driven to enable people to feel comfortable within their own skin knowing such an awakening can cause life transformation.
