Monkeystack delivers digital success for South Australia

| June 19, 2018

After recently winning one of the State’s largest international 2D animation projects, South Australia’s Monkeystack is undergoing significant growth, expanding its in-house workforce by 40%.

“Employing local talent has always been a focus for us and we have a long history of supporting South Australia’s existing and emerging talent,” says Director Justin Wight.

Monkeystack has also invested heavily in the latest round of their internal Incubator Training Program to upskill young creatives in the latest 2D animation software.

With an in-house team of 36 creatives, animators and programmers, the Studio now has the skills and capacity to compete on the global stage and is in a prime position to attract large scale animation and gaming projects.

“If we have any chance of offering viable pathways for aspiring animators and illustrators, we must look both interstate and internationally for further growth,” Mr Wight said.

Alongside the current 2D animation project, Monkeystack will be working on a pilot episode of Koalaman, a co-production with Princess Pictures, directed by Michael Cusack as part of ABC’s Fresh Blood Initiative.

As a Co-Founder of the International Game Developers Association, South Australia, Mr Wight is a strong advocate for new business growth across both animation and game development.

“We’re committed to delivering engaging and memorable content for audiences everywhere and want to see South Australia become the place businesses look to first for their creative digital projects,” he said.

“Plus, the South Australian and Federal Government rebates and tax incentives now available mean there has never been a better time to do business in South Australia.”
