Join Team Defence Australia at international events

| April 6, 2018

Team Defence Australia (TDA) supports export-capable Australian companies by facilitating networking and engagement at international trade shows such as the upcoming Sea Air Space in Maryland, USA, the Defence Services Asia Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Eurosatory in Paris.

TDA missions are assisting record numbers of Australian defence companies, with recent TDA missions to DSEi in London and the Singapore Airshow at full capacity. Companies engaged with TDA have increased their international profiles and gained access to new export opportunities.

The CDIC provides export-ready companies with access to new or existing markets and international supply chains through Team Defence Australia (TDA) events.

The events are organised in conjunction with the Department of Defence and Austrade, and coordinated with state and territory governments.

Attending an overseas tradeshow or participating in a trade mission is a low-cost option for companies looking to export their products and services, benchmark themselves internationally or research their competitors.

The events are led by a two or three star military officer, are supported by Defence, Austrade and many of the defence prime companies, and are coordinated with the state and territory governments.

Companies participating in TDA activities have had success directly through sales, increase in international contacts and networks, introduction to key international decision-makers and enhanced international profile.

Preparing for an event

The CDIC provides a range of training and mentoring options in the lead up to an event, such as presentation skills training, perfecting the quad chart and cultural awareness training.

Quad charts are required for all CDIC trade events and are recognised as a key marketing tool by defence primes and other military and commercial customers around the world. The CDIC can provide assistance and training to help you understand and articulate your company’s value proposition.

Barrett Communications recently exhibited at AUSA in Washington USA as part of the Team Defence Australia (TDA) stand.

The company designs and manufactures HF and VHF radio communications equipment, and has customers in over 150 countries globally.

Cameron Berg, Barrett’s Marketing Manager, said the marketing team at Barrett Communications had been working with TDA for many years to expand the company’s exposure at defence exhibitions globally.

“Many years back when we only attended a couple of exhibitions each year, we chose to partner with TDA to gain presence in new markets and increase our exposure through the opportunities that TDA offer as part of their exhibition package,” Mr Barrett said.

“Our marketing has changed considerably and now we are attending exhibitions at least once a month somewhere in the world.

“We still choose to partner with TDA as it allows us to investigate exhibitions we have not attended before to decide if we want to attend on a bigger scale again. In the case of AUSA, where the exhibition was heavily oversubscribed, we were able to gain attendance in a sold out exhibition.”
