Engineering excellence steals limelight at Business SA 2018 Export Awards

| December 31, 2018

World-leading aerospace component manufacturer Levett Engineering took out the major award at the Business SA 2018 Export Awards, being named the Qatar Airways Exporter Of The Year, and also won the Efic Manufacturing Award.

The Business SA 2018 Export Awards recognise South Australian companies which are excelling in the international marketplace by selling and promoting their products and services.

The Statewide Super Excellence in Exporting Award, a special award recognising South Australian companies making an international impact, was awarded to air conditioning manufacturer Seeley International.

Business SA has been recognising exporting excellence in South Australia for 56 years, and helping organisations wanting to take a leap into commerce across international borders for more than 170 years.

Announced at a gala awards ceremony held at the Adelaide Convention Centre last night, Levett Engineering was recognised as a leading exporter of aerospace components and assemblies, with its components used in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, 777 and 737, Gulfstream G6 and the supersonic Joint Strike Fighter.

Levett Engineering sells directly or as a Tier 2 supplier to the industry’s major aircraft companies, including Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, Harris Corporation, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Boeing, Gulfstream, Embraer and Goodrich.

With its reputation as a preferred employer, Levett Engineering employs the skilled craftsmen with an unwavering commitment to product quality and on-time delivery. The team uses state-of-the-art high performance equipment from leading suppliers to produce machined components.

Business SA Chief Executive Nigel McBride said Levett Engineering should be congratulated for its determination to commitment to its production of precision components in an important industry.

“Defence, aviation, aerospace, aeronautical and electrical engineering are critical industries in South Australia, along with biotech and advanced manufacturing,” Mr McBride said.

“Levett Engineering has developed a reputation for skilled engineering and producing quality components and is increasingly being relied on by some of the world’s largest aviation manufacturers. It is deservedly being recognised for its international success.”

Now in their 56th year, the Business SA Export Awards recognise the success of local companies breaking into export markets and achieving sales and organisational growth.

Having a strong export market is critical when it comes to driving the South Australian economy, and Business SA plays a major role in promoting the state internationally.
