Are you more Optimistic than your team?
Charlotte Park | July 26, 2011
The higher up you go in an organisation the more resilience and optimism you will find, because it is these traits that get people promoted in the first place.
All roles have a minimum level of experience, skills and education needed to adequately perform the role, but once that minimum is there, higher levels of those factors don’t differentiate people’s performance – it is resilience that makes the difference. -

How often is too often?
Geoffrey McDonald Bowll | June 22, 2011When is the right timing for business or personal contact? If you meet a possible customer at a function, do you ring them desperately the next day and look pathetic, friendless and pushy, or do you wait a good six months and hope they remember you, like you’re as memorable as Barack or the Dizzy Lama?
It’s a mystery to many of us. Who wouldn’t love the timing talent that knows exactly when to push the button and when to hold off, teasing the audience, putting them more in love with your words of wisdom, because they have received them right when the coffee arrived, or the second glass of wine kicked in.

There’s two sorts in business. The bulk want to make friends, have a few laughs, go to work in a good mood, enjoy the day, make a buck. The others, the nasty minority, think it’s about conflict and competition and killing the other guy.

Managing cash flow in the growth stage
Suelen McCallum | April 19, 2011For many medium businesses, growth is the barometer for success. But expansion can present challenges and one of the critical issues in any company when it is experiencing a healthy level of growth is cash flow.
In this article, I look at the reasons why cash flow is important and why growth often contributes to a lack of funds.

Cash flow basically means ‘Do I have enough cash in my bank account to cover my expenses?’ Sounds simple, but you’d be surprised at how many people ignore this. And not just small business either! Medium sized businesses have often achieved the desired levels of sales and growth but fail to realise what effects that growth has had on cash flow. -
