ACSC and AISA seal partnership deal for a secure cyber future

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), Australia’s peak body for information security professionals, have joined forces to further strengthen Australia’s cyber security posture and achieve a cyber secure nation.

Together the organisations will deliver a high impact program of events in 2019, including a bigger and better Australian Cyber Conference in Melbourne 7-9 October, replacing the ACSC Conference.

Head of the ACSC, Alastair MacGibbon said the partnership will see the ACSC and AISA combine their expertise to deliver a leading 2019 Australian Cyber Conference that provides business leaders and industry professionals with the latest cyber security insights and best practices.

“Importantly, by merging the ACSC Conference into the Australian Cyber Conference, together we will build on the momentum the ACSC Conference achieved, with attendance almost doubling since the first ACSC Conference in 2015.

“AISA is a trusted industry organisation with national reach into the cyber security ecosystem, from industry professionals to IT providers, small business, and the next generation of cyber security professionals.

“A partnership with the ACSC allows us to take advantage of AISA’s well-established reach and experience delivering events that build the skills of current and aspiring cyber security professionals and providers in Australia, while the ACSC continues to focus on our core business of making Australia the safest place to live, work and play online through our cyber security resilience programs,’ Mr MacGibbon added.

Chair of AISA, Damien Manuel said the ACSC’s partnership with AISA will ensure the 2019 Australian Cyber Conference is a world-class cyber security event with actionable and credible information to unite Australians in achieving a cyber secure nation.

“AISA will also work with the ACSC throughout the year to deliver a program of events for cyber security professionals through the ACSC’s national network of Joint Cyber Security Centres,” he said.

Mr Manuel said addressing the cyber skills gap, one of AISA’s core goals, is a focus of the partnership. ‘Profits from future Australian Cyber Conferences will go back into growing cyber security as a vocation in Australia, critical at a time when cybercrime is harming more Australians every day.’
