The Australian British Chamber of Commerce's fourth annual KPMG Federal Budget Breakfast will explore the significant changes to the tax landscape.
Led by Michael Pascoe of Fairfax Media, the discussion panel will consist of Dick Warburton AO, Chairman of Manufacturing Australia and former Chairman of the Australian Taxation Board and Paul Bloxham, Chief Economist at HSBC Australia.
The keenly anticipated budget will see the introduction of the MRRT, carbon tax, changes to “middle class welfare” including the means testing of private health care and the Government’s promise to bring the budget back to surplus.
The panel will review the impact of the proposed company tax rate cut and the linked increase in the superannuation payments from 9 to 12% on businesses both small and large. Is it a case of business as usual for the majority of businesses? Where does this budget position the Australian Economy? How can the government restrain public sector spending? How will government increase confidence to help increase taxes collected?
