Quickflix to grow off Telstra referrals

| July 4, 2011

Online movie rental company Quickflix has signed an agreement with Telstra which will see the company refer its BigPond Movies DVD customers to the First 5000 member when it closes on 30 September 2011.

As part of the deal Quickflix will also acquire BigPond’s library of DVD and Blu-ray discs and equipment which is expected to help boost its customer base.

In April, Quickflix, which is listed on the ASX and has its head office in Perth, celebrated its 10 millionth rental since entering the marketplace in 2003.

Quickflix founder and executive chairman Stephen Langsford said the deal positioned Quickflix as the one and only provider of postal delivered DVDs and offered a solid subscriber base to introduce its online streaming service later in the year.

“This gives us the opportunity to use this mass subscriber base as we continue on our mission to reach 1 million subscribers over the next five years.”
