NSW Businesses get grants to expand for the NDIS
NSW Deputy Secretary of Skills & Economic Development Zoe de Saram has congratulated ten businesses which have received Business Acceleration Grants as part of the $19 million Disability Sector Scale-Up (DSSU) program.
Ms de Saram said the Disability Sector Scale-Up program was designed for businesses to make the most of the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
“As the name implies the Business Acceleration Grants will enable the successful businesses to expand and enhance their services to their NDIS clients,” Ms de Saram said.
The ten businesses that received grants are the Centre for Disability Studies, Housing Plus, Mackillop Family Services Limited, The Northcott Society (A consortium with Northcott Innovation and Ability Mate), Novita Children’s Services Limited, My Supports, Royal Far West, Sydney Region Aboriginal Corporation (SRAC), Summer Foundation (A consortium with Disability Services Consulting) and the Woodville Alliance.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills and Small Business John Barilaro also commended the successful businesses in what was a very competitive grant program.
“More than 250 businesses applied for the Business Acceleration Grant program so as you can imagine competition was fierce,” Mr Barilaro said.
“While the businesses selected are exceptional and innovative, the quality of all applicants showcased the exciting opportunities for businesses with the rollout of the NDIS and I congratulate them all.’
Minister for Disability Services Ray Williams said the Disability Sector Scale-Up is a component of the NSW Government’s $100 million Smart, Skilled & Hired initiative.
“On top of Business Acceleration Grants, the DSSU will provide low cost advisory services for small businesses across the state through Business Connect to help them identify and capitalise on opportunities that emerge as a result of the NDIS,” Mr Williams said.
