Have your say: National Principles of Intellectual Property Management

| July 10, 2012

First 5000 members are invited to have your say on the management of intellectual property arising from publicly funded research conducted in the public sector.

Submissions close: 20 July 2012.

The revised National Principles will allow for more effective dissemination of new technologies, processes and ideas, especially to small and medium sized enterprises.

The review is designed to better align them with government’s 10 year innovation agenda, Powering Ideas, especially regarding collaboration between researchers, and between researchers and industry, and open government.

The revision will also better link the National Principles with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research that guides institutions and researchers in responsible research practices, promotes integrity in research for researchers and encourages good governance and practice.

It is intended that the revised National Principles will help ensure appropriate management of intellectual property arising from publicly funded research.

The National Principles focus on the need to encourage a culture of collaboration within the research sector and between researchers and industry, and to allow for more effective dissemination of new technologies, processes and ideas, especially to small and medium sized enterprises.
